Position Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Griffin, GA


Job Scope:

Manage projects for operations to support either continuous improvement, corrective action, or new product transition from development into production. Support global projects as part of team.


Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions 

  • Improve processes to reduce waste (material, time, scrap, etc.) and improve quality.
  • Work closely with production and maintenance personnel and suppliers to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Design, specify, and/or implement new equipment to accomplish improvement goals.
  • Manage process engineering changes and subsequent process validations.
  • Oversee pFMEA risk analysis for new and existing processes. Develop and drive process validations to address risks and prove statistical control of the process window.
  • Manage equipment specification files and ensure equipment maintains conformance with specification.Manage engineering teams for large projects including new process launch, continuous improvement, and root cause corrective actions. Manage product transfers from New Product Development to production release.
  • Train employees as needed to support project goals. Write process work instructions and training documents as necessary.
  • Participate in capacity and capital planning activities.
  • Provide cost estimate for standard production parts.
  • Support plant in achieving Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness and Cost goals.
  • Actively participate in 5S program by achieving and consistently maintaining 3S or higher in personal work area.  Participate in rotating 5S schedule as auditor for local facility and owner for local common areas.


Education, Experience, and Skills Desired:

  • Education: Bachelor’s in engineering discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Skills: Medium to high level of computer skills.  Moderate understanding and command of statistics.  Design of experiments experience preferred.  Proven problem solving abilities.
  • Background in rubber injection/compression/transfer molding process/tools/machines, secondary finishing process/tools/machines, problem solving and coordination. Also consider strong experience in injection molding.
  • Working knowledge of process qualifications such as APQP, SPC, FMEA.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt and/or Automation experience is a plus.
  • Must be willing to work various hours when needed.
