Position Title: Automation Technician

Location: Griffin, GA 


Job Scope:

Automation Technician is responsible to perform maintenance and repair on manufacturing equipment including automation and inspection equipment.  Technician will respond to routine and emergency requests for equipment repair.  Automation Technician works with the NPD and Operations (VGR & VMI) groups to support company needs.


Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Electrical and mechanical responsibilities to service and maintain complex industrial equipment and control system.
  • Responsible to troubleshoot the problems which arise in the systems and make sure that they are back in proper working order quickly
  • Able to work independently and with others, troubleshoot, analyze and inspect, disassemble and rebuild, modify, train and test factory machinery and equipment. Must diagnose and correct errors that occur and the root cause.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics to maintain and repair equipment
  • Working knowledge and experience in areas such as mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, and PLC controlled, servo driven manufacturing equipment, automation systems, vision systems, and robotics
  • Good communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to document Standard Operating procedures as related to new equipment and existing equipment
  • Developing and executing various types of tests and generating creative solutions to testing problems
  • Preparing maintenance schedules and creating reports
  • Ensuring that the equipment continues to meet its specifications
  • Actively participate in 5S program by achieving and consistently maintaining 3S or higher in personal work area.



Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • Diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering, automation, robotics technology or equivalent.
  • 2+ years experience with programming, troubleshooting and debugging of industrial components and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability in diagnosing mechanical/electrical failures
  • Capability of modifying and/or changing mechanical parts as required
  • Possess mechanical experience in assembling and disassembling components
  • Experience with machine controls system, i.e., PLC programming, Ladder logic, Micrologix, SLC, RSLogix, Ethernet I/O, IAI robots, vision system, PanelView, etc.
