Manufacturing Software Engineer

Job Scope

The Manufacturing Software Engineer will work in a cross-functional team environment to conceive, build, maintain, and improve software applications, APIs, and tools that support our unique manufacturing processes in close synergy with our Epicor ERP system.

After an initial 12-24 month period in our Asti (IT) manufacturing plant, this role may be relocated to Vernay Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia area (USA). The position will be hybrid/remote depending on the projects and needs, and the candidate should be flexible.

The Manufacturing Software Engineer will report to the Director of Operational Technology, located in Atlanta, and work closely with the company’s functional leaders.

The contract and compensation for this role will align with market trends and the candidate’s experience level.


Primary Responsibilities/Essential Skills


  • Code advanced user applications with connections to SQL databases.
  • Collect, analyze, and translate complex business requirements into functional specifications.
  • Build structures for detailed work breakdown and coordinate development tasks with other team members.
  • Coordinate the development of automated KPI (Key Performance Indicator) generation to help business leaders visualize performance.  
  • Review and investigate current systems for potential performance and useability improvements.
  • Design, develop, deploy, test, and maintain software solutions for various manufacturing processes.
  • Develop applications to visualize manufacturing process control systems.
  • Develop and maintain digital infrastructure to support Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Model-Based Control Systems.
  • Coordinate with other programmers to maintain standardization and portability across and within applications.
  • Manage post-deployment debugging and feature requests.
  • Document processes via flowcharts, diagrams, and comments within source code. 
  • Maintain systems data related to your functional responsibilities according to the matrix located on SharePoint/Global Share Documents/Information Technology/Systems Data Maintenance

Education, Experience, and Skills Required


  • Engineering or Computer Science Degree
  • High confidence with SQL coding, C++, C#, Java languages. 
  • High confidence with MySQL database.  
  • Familiarity with Python
  • Understand Windows API, DLLs, interfaces
  • Familiarity with Smart Manufacturing systems. 
  • Familiarity with Web stack technologies and databases
  • Fluent in English – Certifications a strong plus
  • Available for early/late video conference with different countries
