Engineering Manager

Job Scope

For Vernay Europe in Oldenzaal, we are looking for an Engineering Manager with a strong technical background and a passion for product development who can thrive in the fast-changing automotive industry. In this key role, you will lead our European New Product Development (NPD) organization while working closely with international teams, customers, and suppliers. The position also offers the opportunity to improve processes, develop talent, and contribute directly to our product development activities.

As Engineering Manager, you lead and coordinate New Product Development projects from concept through realization. Together with your team, you ensure the NPD process aligns with customer requirements, market demands, and internal processes.


Your Role


  • Meeting customer specifications, IATF/ISO standards, and internal quality objectives 
  • Implementing LEAN principles in product development and production 
  • Collaborating with international customers and suppliers 
  • Supporting the Sales department with technical questions and customer visits 
  • Developing, coaching, and motivating process engineers and project leaders 
  • Monitoring progress, planning, costs, and communication within complex engineering projects

Education, Experience, and Skills Required


You are a pragmatic manager who brings structure while staying connected to operational reality. At the same time, you move easily between strategy and execution and feel comfortable in an international technical manufacturing environment.

You communicate clearly with customers and internal stakeholders. Your organized approach helps teams stay aligned, while your leadership style focuses on building trust and developing people.

Additionally, you bring:

  • A completed HBO or University degree in Engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering)
  • At least 5 years of experience in product development and industrialization 
  • Experience with project management within NPI/NPD 
  • At least 3 years of managerial experience 
  • Affinity with the automotive and/or plastics/rubber industry 
  • Knowledge of IATF/ISO quality standards 
  • Good command of Dutch and English; German is an advantage
