Vernay Receives Italian Gender Equity Certification

April 4, 2024

Vernay builds a culture of inclusivity and equality to support a diverse workforce.

Vernay Asti (VAS) has successfully obtained its Italian Gender Equity Certification. This achievement highlights Vernay Italia’s dedication to cultivating a supportive work environment that embraces equity, diversity, and inclusion. Amidst a growing recognition of the importance of Gender Equality and DEI in Italy, Europe, and the U.S., Vernay’s certification sets a notable example in prioritizing these crucial issues.

In recent years, the spotlight on intervention strategies promoting gender equality has intensified, reflecting a broader global movement towards inclusivity. The European Commission’s communication on the strategy for gender equality 2020-2025 underscores the persistent gaps in gender parity across various spheres, including wages, leadership positions, and political representation. Addressing these disparities requires concerted efforts in critical areas such as work-life balance, leadership diversity, hiring practices, and combating gender-based violence.

Vernay Italia conducted comprehensive training sessions and internal surveys to gauge perspectives on gender equity. Insights collected from these activities drove the development of a robust strategic plan aligned with international standards spanning 2023-2025. The ongoing efforts made by the DEI VAS Committee and Vanna Villata, Managing Director of Vernay Italia, have been instrumental in driving this initiative forward.

For Vernay Italia, these principles are not just words but actionable commitments. From fostering a culture of respect and dignity to implementing concrete measures outlined in the Gender Equality Plan, Vernay Italia remains steadfast in its pursuit of equality and empowerment.

Alessia Maggiora, HR Training & Development, emphasized the ongoing journey towards Gender Equity, stating, “There’s still a lot of work to do, but every word matters. We must show that we care about the topic and take action for a better future.” Stefania Pallavidino, HR Generalist, expressed pride in the certification, “I’m proud that we obtained the certification as an important first step towards educating Vernay employees about gender equity and DEI.”

Vernay Italia’s achievement of the Italian Gender Equity Certification is evidence of their commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive.
