Quality Control Manager, Medical

Job Scope

Vernay is searching for an experienced, confident Medical Quality Control Manager with excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. This is an important position for a proven technical professional and inquisitive thinker who follows through – are you up for it?

Vernay utilizes the ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 13485:2016 quality systems, and our Quality Control Manager utilizes that framework to implement improvements continually, take corrective and preventative measures, reduce costs, and identify/reduce the risks associated with poor quality for both Vernay and its customers.  You will work in conjunction with other engineers and production employees to maintain best-in-class manufacturing. The Medical Quality Control Manager position is based in our Griffin, Georgia location.  

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Skills

  • Actively work towards improving the overall quality of the products manufactured.
  • Assign and manage activities of Quality Engineers and Technicians to ensure timely, robust, and accurate corrective actions and customer responses.
  • Provide leadership in plant process control, including procedure conformance, product quality, and improvement.
  • Reduce customer claims (internal and external) with proactive steps and techniques applied in production.
  • Measure the performance of the quality system through appropriate metrics, and initiate interdepartmental actions to drive improvement.
  • Ensure the effectiveness of corrective action systems (internal and external).
  • Uses appropriate lean manufacturing strategies to drive down risk and reduce the cost of quality.
  • Develop Validation Master Plan, Create IQ/OQ/PQ protocols for new equipment/processes/software, and manage the revalidation activities per ISO 13485:2016 regulations.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001.
  • At least 5 years of management experience with majority of experience in quality management working in a medical manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in managing professional level personnel as well as floor technicians.
  • Experience with rubber molded products a plus.
  • Strong understanding of customer relationship management.
  • Excellent communication and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in statistical software packages such as Minitab.
  • Six Sigma certification is preferred (green belt or black belt equivalent).
